BIG BANG!! is a universal explosion of respect for the planet and the Fair Trading artisans, farmers, producers, brands and businesses on it.

BIG BANG!! is the moment the sustainable economy bursts into life and creates a universe of markets fit for the future.

BIG BANG!! is a cultural, economic and political new beginning fuelled by the energy of 110 million farmers, artisans and supporters to accelerate the change we all need to live and breathe.

BIG BANG!! is the vision of the World Fair Trade Organization, but is open to every individual, network and organization with a commitment to Fair Trade.

BIG BANG!! is also the antidote to the World Trade Organization’s failure to beat trade injustice and social and environmental degradation; the G8’s failure to beat climate change or the globalized business issues that ravage the planet; and the failure of the financial system to provide a sustainable economy -  leaving millions of people without the means to buy food, homes, health care or education.

The World Fair Trade Day 09 website has been built to help you plan, organize, network, produce and promote whatever you decide to do. You’ll find information and support for your event, as well as marketing materials for publicizing it. And, between here and the day, you’ll find yourself part of a powerful and growing community with a solution to some of the biggest issues we face today.

All you have to do is drum; with your fingers, with a teaspoon, with hands, with sticks, with family, with friends, with neighbors, with passers-by, with a crowd, with an audience, with a solution. Beat Poverty. Beat Climate Change. Beat Financial Crisis. Beat a drum.

With your energy and support, BIG BANG!! will launch an agent of change, known as G9, with a mission to deliver a Fair Trade solution to poverty, climate change and financial crisis to the G8 conference in Maddalena, Italy, July, 09.
