illy presents its new illy collection by Jeff Koons. For the American artist"s second collaboration with illy, Jeff Koons has designed these original mugs for long espresso or filter coffee. In 2001 Koons had instead devised a set of espresso cups featuring little coloured animals on the cup and the saucer. This year his childlike imagination has generated inflatable animals that seem to leap off the cup porcelain to entertain us during our coffee break and take us back to our childhood. The apparent simplicity of the decors purposefully conceals the complex process that generated them, so that Koons remains faithful to his works that, over the years, have aspired to "communicate with the world" through a visual vocabulary filtered through advertising and the toy and entertainment industry, taking us to the boderline between artistic language and popular culture. Koons is considered one of the most important and innovative artists alive today, thanks to the way in which he has confronted the fundamental themes of culture and contemporary art. During the past twenty years, his work has been exhibited in major international contemporary art museum. His monumental floral sculptures Split Rocker and Puppy have been displayed indoors and outdoors at the Palais des Papes in Avignon, at the New York Rockefeller Center and at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Jeff Koons"s illy collection come in a kit containing two mugs, a brochure and a 250g pack of illy coffee especially ground for filter or long espresso.
